The Cafe will Reopen on October 1

It’s been a long, weird year for me, but I’ve missed Cafe Writing, and all of the lovely people who participated, so I’m happy to announce that the cafe will re-open on October 1st, with a few changes:

Projects will begin on the first day of the month, and end on the last.
Projects will have the same item numbers every month. So if “Picture It” is option one in October, it will continue to be option one.
I’ve caved, and installed Mr. Linky’s link thingy. I liked things better without it, but it’s a concession to my funky, busy, schedule.
On Thursdays, we’ll be hosting the Thursday Threesome, so you can participate weekly, if you want.

I look forward to seeing you all in the cafe.

An Update

Once upon a time there was a site called The Back Porch, which was co-hosted by my friend Deb. Once upon a time CafeWriting was actually updated monthly.

We’re going to continue the hiatus a bit longer, while we reconfigure some things, including the return of The Thursday Threesome (which used to be a staple of The Back Porch) and regular, meatier prompts from the main site.

Milne prompts extended

Lovely, talented CafeWriters, I’ve had some heavy personal stuff going on in the last couple of weeks, and I’m having trouble finding my OWN inspiration right now. I’m extending the Milne prompts through the end of June.

As a teaser, however, the theme for July will be SPACE (in honor of the eclipse on the 22nd), and the theme for AUGUST (which is MY month, but I’ll happily share with others who were born in it) will have something to do with FIRE.

If you have photos or quotations you’d like to suggest for either of those themes, comment on this post.

If you’d care to write to some more Milne prompts scroll to the next entry, please.

Just a note…

My 14YO chihuahua, Zorro, started coughing blood and had to be put down on Sunday the 22nd, so I pretty much spent last week hiding from the world. He was totally a child-substitute (I love my other dogs, but we don’t have the same bond.)

February participants page will go up this week, and March project will open by the end of Sunday.

Database Destroyed

Folks…
During some maintenance of my account earlier tonight, the mysql database for this site was irretrievably lost.

I have some of the templates, and I /think/ I have the Halloween prompt page, but all your links have been lost.

Please comment on this post with your links ONLY for the Halloween Post, and accept my apologies. We’ll be starting with new prompts later this weekend; I hope you’ll stick with me.
